BUILD Project - February 11th

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. ~Dr. Seuss

The practice of the Alternatives in Action BUILD is to provide the community with a common goal achievable through many talents. It is volunteerism. It is heartfelt. It is an activity reflective of the soul of our organization. We literally and tangibly build our community through the work of our hands and shoulder to shoulder.

Under the coordination genius of Issa Brandt and Kris Palmer, volunteers from the Home Sweet Home community gathered to support a Winter Garden BUILD. From the amount of delicious delicacies brought to share, we might rename this activity the FILL.

So, what happened?
door codes reprogrammed (!!!)
classrooms swept, cleaned, organized
kitchens cleaned (refrigerators detailed)
gardens weeded
barrels arranged, filled and planted
design and build beautiful planter boxes with bench

We found: five missing puzzle pieces, 13 marbles, dust bunnies, assorted crayons and some manipulatives.

Many, many thanks to all our participants, including:
Big Friends: Cesar Godinez, Keith Lewis, and Ashlee Williams

Staff: Artensia Young, Sky Young

Families: Abukhalaf, Anakata, Attias, Avidon, Brandt, Bruhn (Klump), Denning (Garrett), Eckert-Nunn, Edgelow, Fletcher (Palmer), Gordon, Lamb, Levy, Martin (Hilley), Russell

San Francisco Federal Security Traders Volunteers: Samie Berry, Candy Kane Conrad, Charlie Doering, Erin Williams, Michael O'Leary

One can pay back the loan of gold, but one dies forever in debt to those who are kind. ~Malayan Proverb
